Naughty Norman

This is Norman, our local groundhog.

Norman and I have an agreement.
If he stays out of of the garden, he gets to enjoy an unlimited buffet of clover and other weeds.

And boy do I have clover and weeds aplenty for the discerning groundhog appetite!

Good Norman!

Uh, Norman, what are you doing?

Warning, warning! You are in a restricted zone!

Step away from the flower!

Yes, that flower.

Yes, I know it smells delicious.
But so does clover, right?
RIGHT??

Uh, what are you doing? Resist the temptation!

Noooo!!  Bad Norman!

Yes, you!  I saw you!
You still have something hanging out of your mouth, for crying out loud.

I still know what you did.

What?!
Okay, our agreement now is officially off!

You are a very, very naughty groundhog!

Anyone else get the feeling that my groundhog is developing a little bit of an attitude problem?

He must be taking lessons from the squirrels.

  1. Oh no! His interest in the clover was just a decoy. Why do those guys always go for the good stuff?

  2. Oh but he is so cute! I haven't seen a groundhog in a long time. I use to see them along side the road in ditches and they would poke their head up as cars pass by. Of course I say that when they aren't eating my garden. Great captures of Norman!

    1. They are very long. All the better for digging, I guess! He's got a couple burrows, one right next to the house.

  6. Haha, thanks for the chuckle this afternoon, Indie:) Norman is kind of cute, and reminds me somewhat of Alvin the Chipmunk. But I agree he needs an attitude adjustment. Great photos!

    1. Oh, don't even get me started on chipmunks. We have several of them in the yard, all worse than the groundhog!

    1. By now he's eaten every single leaf off of those stand of Coneflowers by the edge of the lawn. He left the flowers though!
