Out of Order

A beautiful February spring:

Followed by...

a very, very wintery March.
I feel like something is wrong with this picture.

Today the third nor'easter this month has arrived, hammering us with yet more heavy, wet snow.  We are fortunate that we live in an area with underground power lines and thus rarely lose power.

Stay safe out there, fellow New Englanders.

    1. Yesterday's storm dropped about 2 feet of snow. So very wrong for March!

  2. Just came across your blog and see that you are near Boston, where definitely the weather is out of order! So is here in Quebec, where our winter ended and has started up again. Ergh!

I'm speaking in Wellesley at the public library on April 5: Learning to Look, the Art of Garden Observation. Do stop by and say hello! You can find me through www.siteandinsight.com

    1. Yes, it's back up thankfully, though leaning a little more than it used to...

  4. Ugh. The second-to-last pic with the structure (greenhouse?) in the snow is a real beauty though...

    1. Thank you! It is so pretty when all the branches are covered with snow. Though with the wet heavy snow, a lot of people have had trees and limbs down.

  8. I can relate to your photos and weather patterns. It has been a wild ride here as well on Long Island with three snow storms in two weeks, bulbs coming up, then snow and repeat!

    1. And more on the way! We've gotten into that weather pattern of a storm a week. So ready for some real spring!

  9. Love the snowdrop photo and the greenhouse! Lets hope this stuff ends as fast as it's been coming on. The sun feels great and I want the plants to have a chance at enjoying it as well :)

  10. Wow! I have been feeling sorry for all of you out East with all the snow you have received lately. It's one thing to have snowstorms in January, but it doesn't seem fair to be tempted by spring blooms only to have them covered in snow right after. Hope spring arrives soon for you!

    1. Spring really seemed to make headway in February, so it seems so sad to see all those buds and blooms covered in snow for all of March! Hope some of these plants make it out okay.

  11. Yes, things are backwards. BUT we can be grateful this didn't happen just as the buds on the flowering trees were about to open. Of course, I guess that still could happen ...

    1. That happened one year where all the fruit trees lost their buds to a late cold snap, and the entire year's crop was lost up here. I just hope that doesn't happen again!

  12. Your post gave me chills! We frequently have late killing frosts, though it is unusual to have snow. Best wishes for sleeping buds and a beautiful spring yet to come!
