FOOD EMERGENCY!!!

CALAMITY HAS BEFALLEN THE AREA.  THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH NUTS AND SEEDS!  ANIMALS ARE SLOWLY STARVING TO DEATH.  SEE THIS PHOTO:

THIS POOR, BRAVE, YET STILL HANDSOME SQUIRREL CAN BARELY EVEN CRAWL.  HE NEEDS FOOD!

PLEASE SEND AS MANY NUTS AND SEEDS AS YOU CAN FIND TO:

RED HOUSE GARDEN
RALEIGH, NC

HURRY, BEFORE THESE ANIMALS STARVE TO DEATH!

PS.  THIS IS MRS. RED HOUSE TYPING, NOT A SQUIRREL
PPS. WE, UH, I MEAN, THE ANIMALS PREFER PEANUTS AND ALREADY SHELLED SUNFLOWER SEEDS

Hey, we got a weird message from Squirrel Headquarters - have any of you squirrels been sending the humans messages asking for nuts?

Uhh, noooo, it must have been Mrs. Red House!

Mrs. Red House is on vacation this weekend.

Uhhh... it was probably the birds, yeah, the birds..

look innocent, look innocent, look innocent...

  2. Hilarious! Those squirrels are real characters. I will talk to the squirrels @ Southern Meadows and see if they would be willing to share their bounty of acorns. :0)

  6. Oh, no, not Squirrel Starvation! Just look at the poor dears, why, they are wasting away! I will see what I can do to send them much-needed Squirrel-Aid. Love the photos, I got such a kick out of that last one, 'Look Innocent'.

Have a great weekend, Indie! (And I'm off to look for some CoolMax.)

  8. What a lovely story you made of the squirrels and what a gorgeous photos. It's just like they are talking to each other and the last one looks indeed very innocent. They are cute. We have no grey squirrels in our country, just brown ones and not so many. The brown ones are very shy the grey ones are handsome and get used to people.

  11. I certainly hope you are getting lots of responses to your plea for nuts and seeds so you don't destroy Mrs. Red House's garden while she is on vacation:)

  12. Very funny. I love to watch squirrels running round the yard. We find that if we feed them corn, they don't even bother our bird feeders.

  14. Well, I'm back from visiting family up in Boston, and it seems like some little rapscallion has been posting on my blog... Be careful, Squirrels, or the next batch of birdseed I put out might have hot pepper flavoring on them!
