The Earliest Spring Arrivals

While we now have winter snow and freezing temperatures back in force, the previous days of warm spring weather we've been having were enough to see the earliest spring arrivals here.

Winter aconite - February 25

Crocus 'Romance' - February 28

Snowdrops - February 28

Pussy Willows - March 7

And last, but certainly not least...

Meet George and Charlie.
They are four-year-old brothers we adopted from the local shelter.  They are total sweethearts, and they are by far our favorite early spring arrival!

    1. Many of the daffodils and tulips were coming up as well, but now we are back to snow with possibly one to two feet of snow forecasted for this week. It's like having two springs, right?

  2. I've never before seen Winter Aconite. I like it because it looks opposite -- the leaves look like petals. I am so happy you were able to adopt the two brothers so they weren't split up. They will give you many years of amusement and joy.

    1. I love Winter Aconite because they are so early to bloom and the yellow is so cheery. They are little tiny things, though, so I'll be glad when they multiply into a nice patch. It was great timing for the cats. We were looking to adopt two after our other cats passed away, and the shelter really wanted the brothers to stay together.

    1. My spring flowers were so nice while they lasted. We now have a good amount of snow outside, but we at least have George and Charlie to spend time with inside!

    1. Yep! We got about a foot, with more forecasted for this weekend sadly. At least this will make us appreciate our second spring that will come along, right?

  8. So nice to see these early spring blooms, but I especially love the new additions to your family. George and Charlie remind me of our late Tarzan; ginger cats are the best!

  10. Awww, congratulations on your new pets. Lovely blooms! My Tommie Crocuses are just starting to bloom and the Snowdrops are blooming, too. I think I'm starting to see some Winter Aconites and Scillas break through the soil, too. Beautiful blooms and great photos!
