Wrong Shade of Green

When I said I wanted a garden that was green and growing,
this was not what I meant...

Lots of green aphids on a now almost dead plant in container

  1. Oh dear! Those are nasty buggers to get rid of. I hope you can spray them and nurse your plant back to health!

  2. Aphids, spider mites and scale Oh My! Plants are so much more fun when they are free of creepy little bugs! A long time ago I read a book about an herbalist who kept little lizards in her greenhouse to eat such things.

  3. Yikes! It looks like your plant needs some intensive care. Good luck!

  4. If it's not one thing it's another! I have lizards galore so maybe I will not see the blighters this year. Don't give up on the plant though.

  7. Oh, no! Yesterday in an attempt to 'help out' a ladybug, I tried to move her to a milkweed with aphids on it...she promptly flew away. How ungrateful! Ha!

  8. Always unwelcome unless you are another aphid. They always have a crowd.

  9. This was an unknown bulb that I had left over from last fall's bulb planting palooza that I threw in a pot with some dirt. So I ended up just throwing the plant and aphids away, sadly.

Now my black-eyed susans in the front yard, on the other hand, are different story. Those poor plants have attracted all the black aphids in the yard. (Do different colored aphids like different plants?) I've been hosing those down every day. Where are those ladybugs when you need some?!
